Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What’s the difference between a Registered and Accredited BACP counsellor?

A BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist has demonstrated a commitment to high standards and enables the public to have confidence that the practitioner works ethically and is trained and qualified. BACP Accredited counsellors and psychotherapists have surpassed registration standards and have demonstrated mature competence in counselling/psychotherapy training and practice. You can read more about BACP Accreditation here.

How do you support businesses?

There is a range of ways to provide counselling support as part of the employee assistance services offered to staff in a many types of organisations. On site and off site services are available and are designed to address the needs of the individual and the organisation. Return to work, incident support and general employee support services are available. You can read more about the services I offer to businesses here.

How much do you charge?

There are many things to consider when looking at costs and they are highly personalised. A limited number of concessions are available to those on low incomes but these are usually oversubscribed and typically have lengthy wait times associated with them. Corporate and private rates are different due to the differing volumes of work and location can have a significant effect if travel is required. Payment terms will also affect costs, for example discounts are available for advanced payments but payments in arrears incur higher rates. For these reasons it is only possible to establish a budget through conversation to assess your specific needs. Contact me here.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s. It has been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of those suffering from mental trauma. EMDR is now recognised and recommended by the government’s NICE guidelines (national institute of clinical excellence) for the treatment of trauma. As a qualified EMDR practitioner I am able to support people towards relief and recovery from trauma using this method.
